Benjamin Carat

Carat Benjamin was born in Annecy in 1975. He studied cello at the Lyons Conservatory in the class of Jean and Nicolas Hartmann Moves and won first prize honors in 1997. He then joined the doctoral program in Music and Musicology of the twentieth century at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales / IRCAM Centre Pompidou in Paris, and has a DEA under the direction and Jean-Marc Chouvel Hugues Dufourt. In 1999, he joined the College of Arts GRAME Centre National de Création Musicale in Lyon.
Explorer of contemporary music, Benjamin Carat develops a relationship with privileged artistic composers such as Jonathan Harvey (CD "Works for Cello" Label Assaï, Coup de coeur de l'Académie Charles Cros in 2002), Robert Pascal (CD "Monograph" Label Ameson, 2010), Jesper Nordin (CD Phono Suecia - Naxos, March 2012). He performs regularly as a soloist in Canada, China, South America, Germany, Italy, and Sweden in particular, and integrates various music ensembles Chambre.Benjamin Carat holds the Certificate of Competence music teacher . After teaching at the Conservatoire de Brest, he was appointed professor of cello at the Centre of Higher Education UK - Pays de la Loire since 2011 and professor of cello at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux in 2012. Benjamin Carat is also involved in the Centre of Higher Education as a tutor teaching Bordeaux Aquitaine.
