Eduard Brunner

Eduard Brunner began his musical education in Basel ( Switzerland ) the city of his birth. Further studies were continued with Louis Cahuzac at the Paris Conservatoire. He became principal clarinetist of Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich under Rafael Kubelik. For many years he was professor for clarinet and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken. At present he is professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe.
Over 50 years concert engagements have taken Eduard Brunner to all parts of the world, both as soloist and as member of chamber music.
Eduard Brunner has recorded well over 250 works for clarinet under different labels with musicians as Gidon Kremer, Oleg Kagan, Natalia Gutman, Juri Bashmet, Alfred Brendel, Hagen-, Borodin-, Cleveland-Quartett etc. with whom he also gave concerts.
Eduard Brunner has been a catalyst for prominent composers as well as commissioning a large number of works, resulting in a significant addition to the repertoire for clarinet.
