Emmanuel François already performed in more than twenty countries among Europe, America, Asia and Oceania. He has an intense career as a concertist, performing in recitals, chamber music, and as a soloist.
He is the violist of the Van Kuijk Quartet, with which he performs in the most prestigious halls (Philharmonie of Berlin, Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Tonhalle of Zürich, Konzerthaus of Vienna, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Philharmonie of Paris ...).
Former principal viola in the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Marseille, he is invited to collaborate as guest principal with numerous orchestras, such as Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Lyon, Orchestre d'Auvergne, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Sydney Opera House Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Intercontemporain, to name a few.
Emmanuel François studied violin with Marie-Annick Nicolas at HEM de Geneve and viola at CNSMD de Lyon with Jean-Philippe Vasseur and Françoise Gnéri (Master and Artist Diploma). He also studied with Antoine Tamestit, Yuri Bashmet, Tatjana Masurencko, Atar Arad and Thomas Riebl.
He is prize winner at the Wolfgang Märschner (Germany) and the Beethoven Hradec (Czech Republic) international competitions.
Holder of the Certificate of Aptitude, Emmanuel François teaches at the Bordeaux Conservatory and at the Pôle d'Enseignement Supérieur Musique et Danse (PESMD) in Bordeaux Aquitaine.
