After obtaining the First Prize unanimously in the class of Maxence Larrieu at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon in 1985, Jean Ferrandis will be successively winner of the international competitions «Maria Canals» of Barcelona in 1982, «Young Concert Artists» of New York in 1985. In 1986 he was awarded the Grand Prix of the International Flute Competition of «Printemps de Pragues»
Then, he gived numerous concerts throughout Europe, Asia and North America, where he plays in recital, chamber music or as a soloist with orchestra in the most prestigious halls and is invited to participate in numerous festivals. At the same time, he also led a career as a conductor.
His recordings include works by Honneger and D'Indy, as well as the Intégrale des Concertos de Mozart with Marie-Pierre Langlamet. He made a CD of Schubert’s «Sonatines» and «Arpeggione» with the pianist Emile Naoumoff as well as the complete concerti of C.Ph.E Bach with the St.Christopher Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius.
In addition to his concert work, he is a professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and Californian State University, Fullerton, US.
