Chamber foremost, Pierre-Olivier Queyras sharing his passion for chamber music with many performers from different backgrounds.
Of these meetings is born Dumky TRIO with which he plays both in France and in many foreign countries. Member soloist of the Ensemble FA for eight years, it ensures the creation of many contemporary works and several musical performances with actors and dancers.
Pierre-Olivier Queyras teaches CRR Cergy-Pontoise and Rueil-Malmaison and lecturer in various academies and festivals such as the Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), Musicalta festival, stage from Saint-Remy-les-Chevreuse and at the Academy of Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence.
Born in Pertuis (Vaucluse) in 1964, Pierre-Olivier Queyras began playing the violin at four and a half years. After graduating in the class of Jacques Ghestem at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon, in 1985 he was awarded the National Diploma in Music Graduate Studies (1st prize), and perfected the "Hochschule für Musik" in Freiburg im-Breisgau in Germany in class R. Kussmaul, concertmaster at the Berlin Philharmonie, and obtained a Diploma of Higher Studies End of Music, and a special prize at the international competition "Mendelssohn" in Berlin in 1987.
Foremost chamber musician, he founded in September 1988 Trio Iscles, now renamed Dumky TRIO French group with the most winning six national and international awards. Participates together with the many festivals in France and abroad, often aired on (France-Musiques, National Radio Czech RAÏ Italian ...) and several recordings acclaimed by the press devoted to Brahms and Schumann, Canadian contemporary composers, a full Trios Martinu ... The last CD, a full trios by Dvorak, published in 2006, won 5 Diapason and many other distinctions.
The musical activity of Pierre-Olivier Queyras also focuses on contemporary creativity and the musical. From 1995 to 2002 he was a member of the soloist ensemble FA (direction Dominique My) and invited to many festivals as well as all intercontemporain under the direction of Pierre Boulez, and participates in several recordings of CDs devoted to contemporary repertoire. This is an opportunity for him to connect with the younger generation of composers and create for each year of contemporary music, especially during the residence of artists festival "Rencontres Musicales de Haute- Provence. ".
Since its inception, Pierre-Olivier Queyras spends his July this festival of chamber music he founded with his parents and his brother Jean-Guihen Queyras and he is currently president and artistic director. The festival actively supported by several luminaries of the musical world, celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2008.
All its varied musical activities, do not make him forget the recognition and admiration he has for all the artists who have guided him in his learning and his musical career. This is why he taught as a professor at CRR Cergy-Pontoise and Rueil-Malmaison and lecturer in various academies and festivals such as the Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), Musicalta, Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse and Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence.
